Your mission, should you choose to accept it: join City Nature Challenge as a citizen scientist and capture photo evidence of local wildlife and plants. Help Mobilize Frederick and the DC Metro team climb the global leaderboard and turn your discoveries into real data that supports sustainability and conservation efforts in our community and around the world!
Using the iNaturalist app, we’ll record plant and animal species at ThorpeWood, contributing to an international data collection effort that brings insight to the fight against climate change and its impact. We will give a quick tutorial on how to use the iNaturalist app at the beginning of the event, take time to wander and observe on our own, and provide an opportunity for sharing at the end. Participants are welcome to enjoy a picnic lunch (BYO) on our Farm after the event.
Bring:
– Walking shoes
– Smart phone
– Lunch, if you want to stay to enjoy a picnic!
This is a free event, but registration is required: https://lp.constantcontactpages.com/ev/reg/sdah88c All ages welcome!
