Sept ’23 Week 1: Donations, Judy Center, and Master Naturalist Training!

In this first week of September…

September 1st: We started the month strong with a big produce donation to the Frederick Rescue Mission! Our garden bounty is plentiful and we love to share!

September 6th: We were delighted to host the Judy Center staff at the lodge and farm. They spent their indoor time building relationships, giving departmental updates, working on training items, and building leadership skills. Midway through the day, they came outside for some nature programming. For each of the two program blocks, the staff self-selected into one of two programs. First up, everyone went on either a forest therapy walk or a hike. Second round, everyone opted into either farm animal visits or nature art. It was such a joy to treat these important folks to some therapeutic programming.

September 8th: Program Director Katie went to her first Master Naturalist training at Fountain Rock Park! It will be three months of training and many hours of volunteering before she is officially a Master Naturalist, but we are so excited to have this new knowledge and skills added to the ThorpeWood staff!
