Program Manager for Nature-Informed Mental Health Center

In pursuit of this mission, we deliver free nature-informed mental health programming and share our property with local nonprofits and educational groups, with a special emphasis on underserved and marginalized populations.

Job Description

The Program Manager works closely with the Executive Director to create nature-informed mental health programs and to develop interventions for use with diverse groups and programs. The Program Manager also is responsible for developing relationships with community partners and running all mental health programs. The ideal candidate is creative and innovative; self-motivated and an independent worker, but also must be able to work collaboratively with teammates. A minimum of 3+ years of experience as a mental health professional is required. Salary commensurate with experience.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day operational aspects of mental health program.
  • Ensure trauma-informed approach and conduct.
  • Develop and enact novel nature-informed mental health programming.
  • Confer with Executive Director, Property Team, Farm Manager, and Nonprofit Coordinator to ensure the delivery of innovative, trauma-informed and well-organized mental health events and programs.
  • Work with nonprofit and educational partners to coauthor nature-informed mental health curricula and interventions tailored to the unique needs of their clients.
  • Provide mental health programming, including retreats, to mental health professionals, teachers, social workers, first responders, and other professionals at high risk of burnout and compassion fatigue.
  • Run climate grief program and manage opportunities for related environmental activism.
  • Facilitate support groups related to ecotherapy, mindfulness, grief, and other identified topics.
  • Maintain licensure and obtain needed CEUs and certifications to ensure appropriate knowledge of trauma, grief therapy, ecotherapy, climate change, and other related topics.
  • Assist Executive Director with grant writing to expand program capacity.
  • Fill in as needed for property and animal care requirements (we’re a small 6-person team, so everyone needs to be willing to step in to help others from time to time).
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned – this is an evolving position and one of the exciting things about it is that the right candidate will get to author what it looks like – and what future mental health programming at our organization looks like!

Job Requirements

  • 3 years (minimum) experience working in mental health.
  • Advanced licensure in counseling, social work, or psychology (e.g. LCPC, LCSW-C or PsyD).
  • Management experience is preferred.
  • Experience and education in ecotherapy/nature-informed mental health preferred.
  • Experience with trauma, grief and bereavement preferred.
  • Education and experience working with mindfulness-based techniques preferred.
  • Some nights and weekends required (dependent on program schedules, which candidate can largely determine).
  • Comfortable using technology and working independently.
  • Love of the natural world and belief in climate reality.

Compensation package:

Schedule:

  • 8-hour shift
  • Monday to Friday, 8-4, but can be negotiated
  • Occasional nights and weekends, but never to exceed 40-hours/week

Experience:
