Count Around the Farm is one of our classic stories that we bring to Head Start classrooms during our winter visits. This story not only helps our preschool ‘friends’ to remember our farm animals and our property, but it also is a counting exercise. The ‘friends’ shout out the next number before we turn every page, and we stop occasionally to double-check the counts. On the very last page, we count all the way to twenty-eight, which is a great accomplishment for our three and four-year-olds. One of our teachers, Miss Sheba, even requested a copy of the book to help teach her ‘friends’ to count on a more regular basis. We so love that kind of enthusiasm and use of our stories!
