August ’23 Week 4: Concert, Centro Hispano, FCDSS, and CASS!

In this fourth week of August…

August 27th: The farm hosted a Hurrican Ian Relief Concert, benefiting our neighbors Harry and Dorothy Ott. This successful event featured the following musicians: April on South, Alec Arnold, Terance Auelta, Lauren Hill, Melissa Main, Sullivan is Dead, and BooBoo and Dirk Troxxell. Thanks to all who came out!

August 29th: Centro Hispano took up residence in our lodge for the day to start their strategic planning process. Their board members and staff came together in this quiet space to get down to work (and enjoy a few meals together, too!)

August 30th: Thirty-five people from the Frederick County Department of Social Services, Child Support Division enjoyed our lodge the next day. We were delighted that they made time for outdoor programming with us! They enjoyed two rounds of programming. First, the FCDSS-led themselves on an alphabet scavenger hunt, looking for each of the 26 letters in nature. Second, everyone took time to meet and love our animals. On the way back to the lodge, they stopped by the stream to collect rocks for a rock-painting activity later in the day!

August 31st: FCPS’s CASS team came out for a retreat at the lodge and farm! After morning team meetings, they came over to the farm side for some eco-therapy. This included a forest therapy walk (with our custom scrolls) and
