Summer is well upon us. Sure, summer technically just began on June 21; however, for anyone with children home from school for the season, summer is probably starting to feel a bit daunting right about now. Endless hours to fill with tasks to avoid the dreaded, “I’m bored” can bring out the terror in any parent or caregiver. And that’s where we come in!
Think how much fun it would be for children and grownups alike to attend the International Music Institute & Festival’s upcoming FREE concert at ThorpeWood. On Wednesday, July 23rd at 3 p.m., you can take time off from having to plan an engaging activity, because we have already handled it for you!
The IMIF is an organization dedicated to providing young musicians with the support and instruction they need to improve their musical ability. (You can learn more about the IMIF by visiting their website www.imif.us). Interested young musicians apply to the program, and 30 to 35 students are chosen each year. Through a ten day program, the instructors of the IMIF provide intense, personalized instruction to the students and then selected students participate in a five day concert tour of Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Washington, D.C. ThorpeWood has been selected to be a stop on this five day tour.
Imagine the fun your whole family will have, spending the afternoon at our beautiful Lodge while listening to fantastic music and supporting the efforts of young people as they strive to grow their musical abilities! Not only would you be filling your long summer hours with a lovely experience, but you would be demonstrating to your own young people how hard work and dedication can pay off! And, you would be encouraging them to support the arts in their community, which is a truly worthwhile endeavor.
We are hoping to have 30 people attend this FREE concert, so please – share this information with your friends and family! You can let us know of your intent by emailing Jo Ann at [email protected], or by giving us a call at 301-271-2823.
Let us help make your summer a little easier and a little brighter! We hope to see you there!
