In just over a week, the sixth annual ThorpeWood Trails 5K Fun Walk/10K Run will be just a memory. We have had such wonderful participation so far – our registrations on active.com are reaching new heights every day – but we would love to see more of you come on out and support such a great cause.
That’s right – funds from this year’s race – held on September 1st – will go to offset the costs of opening up the ThorpeWood property to kids from the Frederick County YMCA youth programs. The Y is such a big part of our lives here in Frederick, we are certain that you know someone – or are someone – who utilizes the wonderful services of the YMCA.
Founded in 1858, the Frederick County chapter of the YMCA serves over 10,000 members each year. Over 25,000 members of the community participate in Frederick County YMCA programs. The Y partners with other community organizations to provide programs, venues, and services to their members, and ThorpeWood is one of those partners.
The money we raise from this race will help YMCA kids experience ThorpeWood’s natural bounty through hiking, fishing, camping, and participation in our Equine Assisted Learning program.
“Funds raised through the ThorpeThe cost of your registration – $15 pre-registered for the 5K; $20 pre-registered for the 10K. Day of registration costs – $20 for the 5K; $25 for the 10K. And for the experience you help provide to these YMCA kids – well, we really can’t put a price on that.
There is still time to register online. Simply go to active.com and register. All pre-registered runners are guaranteed a race shirt. And, of course, same day registration will be available. Make sure to share the information with all of your friends and family.
For those of you who have already registered – thank you! We are so looking forward to race day and to raising lots of money for such an awesome cause. See you on the trails!
