Travel I-70 East toward Frederick and take Exit 42, turning LEFT at the end of the ramp onto MD Rte 17 North towards Myersville.

Follow 0.8 miles and turn right to continue of Rte 17; continue straight at traffic light (Alt. 40)

Stay on 17 North for the next approximately 6 miles, turning RIGHT onto Middlepoint Road.

Continue up this steep steep road (1.8 miles) to where it TEES wth Tower Road, where you will turn LEFT, traveling for approximately 1/2 mile.

Tower makes a hard left BUT you leave Tower at this point by going STRAIGHT which becomes Mink Farm Road, a gravel road.

Then CHOOSE ONE of the following destinations within the ThorpeWood property:

  • To access the Main Lodge at ThorpeWood:
Continue on Mink Farm Road for approximately 1/2 mile, then turn RIGHT into ThorpeWood’s driveway, marked by the carved wooden “ThorpeWood” sign. When the driveway divides, stay to the RIGHT to get the Lodge.

  • To access the Homestead at ThorpeWood:
Continue on Mink Farm Road for approximately 1/2 mile where the entrance to ThorpeWood’s Lodge will be on your right; continue past the entrance to the Lodge, and go over the bridge, road turns to paved again, go up hill. The lane into the Homestead @ ThorpeWood is on the LEFT, addressed 13002. Go down the lane until you pass a large barn with a silo on your right. Turn RIGHT at the silo and park with the front of your car toward the barn. The Homestead is the building to the left of the barn and down a short drive. Enter the Homestead from the side of the building.

  • To access Stoney Lick Farm at ThorpeWood:
Continue on Mink Farm Road for approximately 1/2 mile where the entrance to ThorpeWood’s Lodge will be on your right; continue past the entrance to the Lodge, and go over the bridge, road turns to paved again, go up hill to your second LEFT after stream crossing. Farm lane is gravel and is directly opposite a black mailbox, addressed 12805-C.

The stables, round pen, and riding track are to your right as you go back the lane, so turn RIGHT at your first opportunity. If you go straight, you end up in a large parking lot (which is also a fine place to park). Continue to the horse trailer and park in the lot where the trailer sits.
