This week, we hosted Tiffany Cianci for an Inventures in Learning virtual field trip. Tiffany owns The Little Gym in Frederick and has been filming hugely popular live virtual field trips all over the local area. The videos are targeted at kids aged prek-6th grade. Tiffany even uploads dozens of age appropriate worksheets for kids at home to fill out. Many teachers ‘assign’ her field trips to their students to make the most of distance learning.
After so many popular videos, a few folks recommended that she come to ThorpeWood to visit with our animals, so she did! She had already been to a dairy farm, so her visit mostly focused on our horses, chickens and beavers. Over 3000 people have viewed her video so far, less than a day after it was posted.
The video is in three parts, due to loss of signal as she was streaming at the farm. In the first two parts, we visit with our horses and chickens, answering many kids’ questions along the way. The third part features our beavers! Our beavers were so curious and cooperative with her filming as they swam laps in front of the camera, came out of the water, groomed themselves, and more!
