ThorpeWood’s landscape was graded specifically to drain snow and rain runoff from our roof and sloped lawns to a number of low-lying rain gardens near the main building. These gardens are perfect locations for native flowering plants to soak up excess rain water, recharge our groundwater supply and prevent polluted runoff from entering Bussard Branch. The gardens beautify the landscape while providing food and habitat to native insects, butterflies, birds, and lots of other critters too!
