Harvest Fundraiser

Fgallery6-10Fall is in full swing here at ThorpeWood!  One of our largest events this Fall is our Harvest Fundraiser, with Ruut, on November 10th.  Ruut is a long time favorite of ThorpeWood, and she was here this February to perform a fantastic concert in our Lodge.  So many of you attended and enjoyed her special music.  It was a wonderful evening.

Well, Ruut has a new album out – Glimpse – (you can listen to a bit of it by clicking here) – and when she was determining her promotional stops for this album, she contacted us to see if there was any way that we could coordinate a concert at ThorpeWood that could also be a fundraiser.  You see, Ruut is as big of a fan of ThorpeWood, and what we do here, as we all are of her!  We were thrilled to be able to find a date that worked.

That date is November 10th.  We will be lucky enough to welcome Ruut back to ThorpeWood in 2013 with an afternoon concert.  The concert begins at 2 pm and goes until 5 pm.  Tickets are $20 in advance, and $25 at the door.  If you are interested in purchasing tickets, you can call ThorpeWood at 301-271-2823, or email Julie at Ruut-2013[email protected].

We are also excited to be able to welcome Luke Brindley as Ruut’s opening act!  Luke has performed at countless area venues, including Wolftrap, but this will be his first time at ThorpeWood.  We are so eager to have him at the Lodge.  You can hear some of Luke’s music by clicking here.

This fundraiser will be used to help support the use of ThorpeWood by area nonprofits, especially those who serve children in our community.  Groups such as Frederick County Big Brothers/Big Sisters, the Frederick County YMCA and the Frederick County United Way come to ThorpeWood to participate in our Equine Assisted Learning Program, and to use our grounds and facilities to fish, hike, camp, and enjoy time spent in nature.  We count on these fundraisers to help us achieve our mission to be the natural resource for nonprofits.

EAL-1Your admission ticket also gets you light snacks and hot cocoa.  This is a BYOB event, so feel free to bring something you enjoy.  We are so looking forward to sharing this afternoon with you, and having a successful fundraiser for ThorpeWood.
